Sustainability

At the Old Course, our commitment to sustainability rests on three foundational pillars: Environment, Social, and Governance.
The actions we take are reflected in every aspect of our operations and has been recently acknowledged with prestigious certifications from Turismo de Portugal

Signage  100%   recycled plastic

The selection of new furniture and signs for Vilamoura's golf courses follows rigorous sustainability criteria, utilizing 100% recycled plastic from yellow recycling bins and PEFC/FSC®-certified materials. This initiative not only underscores our dedication to environmental and social responsibility but also ensures long-term economic benefits by reducing maintenance needs and inspiring our golf partners to embrace similar practices.

Off   the   course

Our approach extends to the reuse of biodegradable materials from tree maintenance, transforming branches and pine trunks into wood chips that enhance non-playable and landscaped areas. This shift from grass to wood chips reduces water and fertilizer consumption, as well as the human resources needed for upkeep. We also repurpose concrete blocks from old buggy paths, crushing them for use in constructing new paths, showcasing our commitment to resource efficiency.

Paper   Waste

The Old Course has embraced digital innovation with the installation of How Many Strokes digital handicap conversion tables. This modern solution eliminates the need for physical conversion tables, thereby reducing paper use and simplifying calculations for our visitors.
